Once your Google Business Profile is connected, you can keep its details right without leaving SearchOps. Fix wrong opening hours before a bank holiday, add a booking link, sharpen your description or add photos, and see every change before it reaches Google.

What you'll need

What you can change

Open Google Business Profiles > Profiles and select a profile. The Edit this profile card lists each detail with what Google shows now. Depending on the listing, you can change:

  • Business description: the text Google shows on your profile, up to 750 characters.
  • Opening hours, Special hours (bank holidays and one-off closures) and Additional hours (such as delivery or takeaway).
  • Open or closed status: whether customers see the business as open or temporarily closed.
  • Services and Attributes, such as wheelchair access or parking.
  • Categories and Service areas.
  • Phone number and Website.
  • Booking link: the booking, ordering or reservation button on your profile.
  • Photos: see the Photos section below.

A detail marked In Google can't be changed from SearchOps, so change it in Google Business Profile instead. Your business name is changed in Google Business Profile too.

Make a change

  1. Select Edit next to the detail.
  2. Make your change and select Review the change.
  3. Check the Now and After versions side by side, then select Apply to Google. Select Discard if you change your mind.

Google usually shows the change within a few minutes. While it is on its way, the detail shows Queued or Sending to Google, then Applied. If you close the window before applying, the change waits on the card as Waiting for you, with Apply and Discard buttons.

Tip: Your primary category is the strongest signal on the profile and decides which searches you appear in. Only change it if the current one is genuinely wrong.

Google turns down descriptions and service names that contain a phone number, email address or web address. SearchOps tells you before you send it, so you can take it out.

If something goes wrong

  • Google rejected it: Google refused the change. The card shows what Google said, so you can adjust it and try again.
  • Out of date: Google, or someone else with access, changed that detail before your change was sent. SearchOps holds yours back rather than writing over theirs. Select Start again to make your change from the current version.

Undo a change

Every applied change (apart from adding a photo) has an Undo button, which puts the previous version back. Select Show every change we've made to see the full list, including undone and discarded changes.

Changes you make here also appear on the profile's Changes and results timeline as Edits through SearchOps, so you can see what happened to calls, directions and website clicks afterwards. If Google or someone else changes a detail, it shows under What changed on this listing, where Put it back restores your version.

Fix audit findings in one step

When a Google Business Profile audit finds a missing detail that a single edit can fix, such as no website, no phone number, no business hours or a short description, the check shows Fix this now. It opens the editor at that detail, ready for you to make the change.

Photos

The Photos card on the profile's page shows what customers see in the gallery, in two groups:

  • Your photos: the ones you or your team added, each labelled with its type, such as cover photo, logo or food and drink.
  • From customers: photos customers added to your listing.

To add a photo, select Add a photo, upload a JPEG, PNG or WebP image up to 8 MB, and choose what it shows. You then review it and apply it like any other change. Adding a photo can't be undone with Undo, so remove it instead if you need to.

To remove one of your own photos, select the remove button on it and confirm with Remove photo. Customers stop seeing it within a few minutes. This can't be undone, so keep a copy if you might want it again.

Customer photos can't be removed from SearchOps. To report an unsuitable one, open the photo in Google Maps.

Tip: Profiles with photos tend to get more direction requests. A steady set of recent photos of your premises, team and work is worth keeping up.

Who manages the listing

The Who manages this profile card lists the people Google says have access to the listing. You can only view it here. To add or remove people, use Google Business Profile.
