Why it's different

Built for the way local SEO actually works

Cut by location and town

Each location's own page in Google Search, the searches that name its towns and where those clicks went, and its Business Profile beside its website.

Close to page one

Service searches at positions 4 to 20, the ones a little work can move, ready to add to Keywords or turn into prompts.

Rankings by service

Google's own average position for the keywords on each location's Keywords page, scored by service against the 28 days before, with no cost per check.

What the visits turn into

With Google Analytics connected, see which visits become enquiries and bookings, by channel, page and location, including visits from AI assistants.

Locations

Every location's searches, beside its Business Profile

Search Console reports on a website. A local business runs locations. The Locations page splits the site back into them: each location's own page in Google Search, the searches that name its towns and where those clicks went, and what people searched to find its profile, next to the website's position for the same words.

Connect your Search Console
  • Flags a location that links its profile to the homepage, or whose profile link isn't tagged
  • Searches are matched to a town on whole words, one place per search, with searches for your own name counted apart
  • The profile's calls, website clicks and directions sit beside the website's clicks, never added together
  • Link each location to its site in Settings, with a path when branches share one domain

Queries and services

The service searches sitting just off page one

Every query from the last 30 days against the 30 before, sorted by how people searched: near me, naming a place, urgent, asking the price, asking a question, or just the service. Filter by service, town, position or change, then send the ones worth tracking to your keywords.

  • Close to page one: positions 4 to 20, for every service
  • Long queries and questions in a view of their own, with the count Google kept back
  • Tick searches to add them to Keywords, or turn questions into prompt ideas
  • Save a view for each site, shared with your team, and export any list to CSV

Rankings

Rankings from Google's own numbers, with no cost per check

Rankings reads Google's average position for every keyword on a location's Keywords page, straight from Search Console. Each service gets a score out of 100, weighted by searches, against the 28 days before, and every keyword has a 16-week line and the page that ranks.

  • Bands for top 3, 4 to 10, 11 to 20, 21 or lower, and not seen lately
  • Filter by moved up, moved down, changed page and new this month
  • An average across the searches that showed the site, not a map position. Geo-grid scans measure the map

Google Analytics

What the visits turn into

Connect Google Analytics and the same section shows what happens after the click. Leads reads your events and suggests the ones that count, then splits them by month, channel, page and location. Visitors shows where visits came from, including AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity.

  • Lead events are suggested, never assumed: a Book button click is listed but not ticked
  • Visits from AI assistants are counted as a minimum, by assistant and by the page they landed on
  • Business Profile actions sit beside website leads, never added together

Connect Google Analytics

What it uses

Included, with no cost per check

GSC and GA4 Insights reads Google's own data through your connection, so browsing it uses none of your allowances. Your plan sets how many sites you can connect.

  • Search Console properties: 3 on Starter, 10 on Pro, 50 on Agency, 100 on Enterprise
  • Google Analytics properties: the same numbers as Search Console
  • Overview, Rankings, Locations, Services, Queries, Pages, Leads and Visitors use no allowance
  • Read-only access: SearchOps never changes anything in Search Console or Analytics

GSC and GA4 Insights FAQ

Questions we get

Not answered here? Contact us

Do I need Google Analytics?
No. Overview, Rankings, Locations, Services, Queries and Pages work with Search Console alone. Leads, Visitors and the visit columns on Pages need Google Analytics.
Why are the totals lower than in Search Console?
Search Console keeps back searches it treats as private and lists a capped number of queries, so a list of searches adds up to less than the site's total. SearchOps shows Google's own total for the site and never presents a sum of rows as that total.
How is Rankings different from a geo-grid scan?
Rankings is Google's average position for a keyword across every search that showed your site, from Search Console, at no cost per check. A geo-grid scan checks Google Maps, Google Search or AI Mode from points across the area you serve, so it shows where on the map you appear. They answer different questions and sit well together.
How do searches get matched to a location?
Each location is linked to the Search Console property that holds its site, with a path when several branches share one domain. A search counts for a town when it names that town or neighbourhood as whole words, and searches for your own business name are counted apart.
Can I put this in a client report?
Yes. Reports has blocks for Search performance, Rankings from Search Console, Town by town, Service lines and Leads, and ready-made reports such as the Town-by-Town Report and Google Rankings.
What access does SearchOps need?
Read-only access to the Search Console and Analytics properties you choose, given when you sign in with Google. SearchOps can't change anything in either.
