Google Business Profile

Run a Google Business Profile audit

Audit a profile against around 30 ranking and completeness signals, see how nearby competitors compare, and act on the fixes.

A profile audit scores your Google Business Profile against the signals that influence how well you rank and how often people choose you. It turns a vague "improve your listing" into a clear, prioritised list of fixes, each with the points at stake.

What you'll need

  • A location with a Google Place ID. You don't need to connect the Google Business Profile to audit it.

Run an audit

  1. Open the location from Locations and select Run GBP audit (or Audit on its card in the Locations list).
  2. Confirm with Run audit.
  3. Wait a moment while it pulls the live profile data and scores it. Your finished audits are listed under Google Business Manager > Audit.

What it checks

The audit groups its checks into six areas:

  • Profile basics: name, description, core details.
  • Categories: your primary and additional categories.
  • Visual presence: photos and imagery.
  • Reviews: volume, rating, and recency.
  • Hours and attributes: opening hours and the attributes customers filter by.
  • Engagement: posts and activity.

It also reviews the quality of your business description and suggests a stronger version you can use.

Everything rolls up into a single score out of 100, colour-coded so you can see at a glance whether a profile is healthy or needs work. A Competitor Comparison table scores the businesses you compete with nearby, taken from your latest scan, on the same checks, alongside their rating, reviews, photos and categories.

Acting on the results

Each failing check becomes a card in the Action Plan, explaining what is wrong, why it matters, and how many points it is worth. They are ordered by impact, so work top down: the high-priority items move your score the most, and they are also added to your Tasks.

Tip: Categories and a complete, specific description are common quick wins. Fix the high-priority items first, then re-run the audit to confirm the score has climbed.

How often can I audit?

Your plan includes a monthly GBP audit allowance shared across your locations: Starter includes 4 a month, Pro 25, Agency 60, and Enterprise is sized to your contract. A fairness cap also applies per location (for example, up to 2 a month for one location on Pro), so one location can't use the whole allowance. A failed audit never counts toward it. Select your scan credits balance at the top right of the dashboard, or open Usage & Billing, to see how many GBP audits you have left. The allowance resets on the 1st of each month. See the pricing page for current limits.
