A Whitespark alternative that adds AI answers to your map tracking
Whitespark sells its software one product at a time: Local Ranking Grids, Local Platform, Local Rank Tracker, Local Citation Finder and Reputation Builder, each with its own price in US dollars. SearchOps puts map grids, Business Profile work, reviews and AI answers under one plan. The AI part is what Whitespark's software list doesn't include: AI Overviews and AI Mode across the grid, and ChatGPT and Gemini by prompt. If map grids are all you need, Whitespark costs less, and this page shows by how much.
The short answer
SearchOps or Whitespark?
SearchOps fits if
- You want to see, at the same grid points, your Google Maps position, whether an AI Overview cites you and whether AI Mode names you.
- You report to clients on ChatGPT and Gemini as well as the map, by service, with the businesses named instead of them and the sites each answer cites.
- You would rather have map grids, profile edits, posts and review replies under one plan than buy and manage each product separately.
Whitespark fits if
- You want the lowest monthly cost for Google Maps grids alone: Whitespark's credit plans start at $10 for 2,000 points.
- You need exact positions beyond the top 20, or organic and Bing rankings on desktop and mobile.
- Citation research, citation building or listing cleanup is part of the work you do.
- You want an alert whenever Google changes a profile, with one-click reject across many locations.
Using both
Whitespark sells each product on its own, so you can keep its Local Citation Finder or listings service for citations and run grids, AI answers, profiles and client reports in SearchOps.

Price the job
Twenty locations of map tracking, priced both ways
An agency tracks five keywords for each of 20 client locations on a 7×7 Google Maps grid every week. That is map tracking only, which is where Whitespark is strongest on price. Tick the extras to see how each product covers them, or change the numbers to price your own job.
SearchOps
$189a month
Pro ($99) plus 2 × 5,000-credit top-ups ($90) bought each month.
12,000 scan credits a month cover 21,234 points with the top-ups, leaving 766 for Google Search or AI Mode grids. Up to 50 locations.
Whitespark
$100a month
Local Ranking Grids $100 plan, 32,000 points included, billed monthly.
Whitespark sells grid credits in monthly plans at one credit a point, so the price follows locations, keywords, grid size and schedule. Past its $200 plan for 65,000 credits it charges $0.003 a credit.
- Whitespark's price is for Local Ranking Grids alone. Local Platform, for bulk profile edits and change alerts, adds $1 a location a month billed annually, which is $20 a month for 20 locations. Reputation Builder, for review requests and replies, is $79 a location a month, with multi-location pricing on request.
- SearchOps' price includes 3,000 ChatGPT and Gemini checks a month on Pro (6,000 on Agency), and posts and review replies on up to 25 connected profiles. White-label reports and a team need Agency, $249 a month, which also covers this job's points.
- Both are monthly list prices as each company publishes them. Whitespark's unused credits expire after each billing period. SearchOps' annual billing charges 10 months for 12.
- SearchOps' prices here are the US dollar prices on its pricing page (£29, £79 and £199 a month in pounds). Checkout shows the exact amount in your currency.
What's different
What SearchOps does differently
AI answers on the map
See where Google's AI answers mention you, point by point
Whitespark's grids show where you rank in Google Maps. SearchOps runs the same kind of grid on two more Google surfaces. On Google Search, each point shows whether you are in the local pack's top three and whether an AI Overview appears and cites you. On AI Mode, each point shows whether Google's answer names you. Because the points are shared, you can see where the map and the AI answers agree and where they part ways.
- Google Maps: one credit a point, top 20, grids up to 21×21
- Google Search: local pack top three and AI Overviews, two credits a point
- AI Mode: named or not named, up to 9×9 in the US, UK and India
One point on a 7×7 grid
- Google MapsPosition 3 of the top 20
- Google SearchIn the local pack's top 3. AI Overview shown, cites the clinic.
- AI ModeNamed in the answer
ChatGPT and Gemini
Know which businesses the assistants suggest in your place
Write prompts the way customers ask them, grouped under the services each business sells. Every prompt goes to ChatGPT and to Gemini, and each answer is read for whether the business is named, who is named in its place and which sites the answer cites. Share of voice shows how often you are named against the businesses that appear alongside you.
- Both engines on every prompt, reported separately
- 3,000 checks a month on Pro, 6,000 on Agency
- The sites behind each answer, so you know where the evidence lives
One prompt, two engines
"Which dentist in Leeds can see me today for a broken tooth?"
- ChatGPTNamedalongside 2 other practices
- GeminiNot namednames 3 others instead
Sites cited across both answers: the clinic's own site, a review site and a local directory.
One plan
Reviews, posts and profile edits beside the map, with no second subscription
At Whitespark, profile editing is Local Platform and review management is Reputation Builder, each bought on its own. In SearchOps they come with the plan. Reply to Google reviews from agent drafts, publish or schedule posts to one profile or several, and change a profile's details with approval and undo. Trustpilot and Tripadvisor reviews sit alongside Google on Pro and Agency.
- Agent drafts for every Google review reply
- Auto-replies to 4 and 5 star reviews on Pro and Agency
- Posts and profile edits on the same connected profiles
A new review, with a reply ready
★★★★on Google, 2 hours ago
"Seen quickly for a cracked filling. Parking was tricky."

"Thank you for coming in at short notice. We're sorry about parking; the pay and display on Larkfield Road is the closest. See you at your check-up."
Client reporting
Reports that tell a real improvement from ordinary movement
Grid positions shift a little between scans even when nothing has changed. SearchOps labels a change as a gain or a drop only when it is larger than that ordinary movement, and a confirmed gain becomes a verified before and after result your client can check. Reports start from eight templates or your own layout, go out by scheduled email, and carry your branding on Agency.
- Eight templates, or build your own from up to 50 blocks
- Verified before and after results
- White-label reports on your own sub-domain with Agency
Before and after, one keyword

When Whitespark fits better
Where Whitespark is the better choice
Whitespark has served local businesses since 2005, and several of its products go further than SearchOps in their own area. If these matter most to your work, it is the better fit.
Citation research and services
Local Citation Finder finds the citations your top competitors have and you don't, in 43 countries, and Whitespark's team builds and cleans up listings for a one-off fee. SearchOps checks each branch's listings and shows gaps against competitors, but doesn't build or submit listings.
Positions all the way to 100
Whitespark's grids record positions up to 100 at every point. SearchOps reads the top 20 on Google Maps, so a business further down shows as outside the top 20 rather than at its exact position.
Organic and Bing rankings
Local Rank Tracker follows the local pack, Maps and organic results on Google and Bing, on desktop and mobile, from $17 a month ($14 billed annually). SearchOps retired website rank tracking and doesn't track Bing; for your own site it uses Google Search Console.
Alerts when Google changes a profile
Local Platform emails you when Google or anyone else changes a profile, keeps a history of every change, and rejects unwanted updates in one click, or in bulk, for $1 a location a month billed annually. SearchOps' profile tools are built for making your own changes safely, one profile at a time.
The lowest price for grids alone
Whitespark's grid plans start at $10 a month for 2,000 points, and the agency job on this page costs $100 a month there against $189 on SearchOps. If Google Maps grids are all you need, Whitespark costs less.
Switching
Moving from Whitespark
Moving across is mostly setup: your locations and keywords, the profiles you manage and your schedules. You can keep any Whitespark product you still want, because each one is billed on its own.
- 01
Export your grid history
Whitespark's grids page says ranking and competitor data can be exported to CSV or PDF. Keep a copy for your records, since SearchOps builds its trend from its own scans.
- 02
Add locations in bulk
Upload your locations to SearchOps as a CSV file. Each one is matched to its Google listing.
- 03
Bring your keywords across
Paste keywords or import them from Excel or CSV, grouped under the services each business sells.
- 04
Connect the profiles you manage
Sign in with Google to connect the Business Profiles you post to and reply from. Tracking a rival or a prospect needs no connection.
- 05
Match your grids, then compare trends
Choose the grid size and area closest to your Whitespark grids and set your schedules. Run both for one reporting cycle and compare the direction of travel, not single points: pin placement, timing and how each tool reads results all differ, and positions past 20th show on SearchOps as outside the top 20.
- 06
Time the switch to your billing date
Whitespark says unused grid credits expire after each billing period, so moving at the end of a period wastes none.
