Changes and results puts everything that changed on a connected Google Business Profile on one timeline, next to the numbers that matter: calls, direction requests and website clicks, how often you show in the Map Pack, and where your tracked keywords rank. For each change you see the four weeks before it against the four weeks after.

Where to find it

Open Google Business Manager > Performance in the sidebar, pick a profile, and select the Changes and results tab next to Numbers. The link at the top of any profile page opens it too, and so does See what changed when a drop is flagged. Choose 3, 6 or 13 months above the chart.

The tab needs the profile to be linked to one of your locations, because Map Pack coverage and rank belong to the location. If it isn't linked yet, the tab takes you to the profile to link it.

What counts as a change

Changes sit in labelled rows above the chart:

  • Google's edits. Google sometimes changes business details on its own, such as opening hours or categories, and customers see its version straight away.
  • Edits in Google Business Profile. Changes somebody made directly in Google, not through SearchOps.
  • Posts you published, and your notes about work done off the platform, which you add with Add note on a chart in Explore.

We check each connected profile every day and record what moved, including attributes, booking links and the number of photos.

Read the chart

The chart has three panels on the same timeline:

  1. Calls, directions and website clicks a week, from Google. Google reports these a few days behind, so the latest days fill in later.
  2. Map Pack coverage: the share of grid points where you show in the top 3, from your Geo-Grid scans.
  3. Web Results Rank: the average position of your tracked keywords, where 1 is the top.

Hover over a week to see all three numbers for it. Click a change to jump to its before and after. Select Show as a table to read every week as numbers.

Each change, before and after

Every change has its own card with four comparisons:

  • Calls, directions and website clicks a week
  • Actions per 100 profile views, which only moves when more of the people who see the profile act on it
  • Map Pack coverage, on the same keywords scanned before and after
  • Average Web Results Rank, on the same keywords checked before and after

Tip: These numbers show what happened around a change, not what caused it. When other changes fall in the same weeks, the card says so, because the effect of one can't be separated from the others. A card waits for at least two weeks of data after a change before it shows an "after" number.

Check a change

Changes also show on the profile page, under What changed on this listing. Select Check now to look for changes straight away, and Mark as seen once you have checked one. If a detail is wrong, correct it in Google Business Profile.

Emails

  • Google profile changes are on by default. You get one email when a check finds changes customers can see.
  • Google profile results drops are off by default. Turn them on to get an email when calls, directions, website clicks or views fall well below each of the four weeks before.

Change either in Settings > Email Notifications. A drop also shows under What changed on your dashboard, and clears on its own once the numbers recover.
