Beauty and wellness search is treatment-led and very local. Someone searching for 'balayage', 'skin fade' or 'lash lift' may be choosing between places a few doors apart, so the Map Pack can change from one street to the next, and a booking button through one of Google's booking partners can turn a profile view into an appointment. Aesthetics clinics have an extra layer: in markets such as the UK, prescription-only treatments can't be advertised to the public. SearchOps shows where you appear for each treatment across your neighbourhood, what clients say about you, and which places ChatGPT and Gemini recommend.
The problem
Salons, barbers and spas can cluster on the same streets, and each treatment brings its own set of rivals. A salon known for colour can be missing for 'balayage' two streets away, a barber can appear for 'skin fade' and not for 'beard trim', and a spa's visibility for 'massage' says little about 'facial'. Reviews and photos sit on the profile, so it needs to show the work well once someone finds it.
Each treatment can show a different set of businesses, even within a few streets.
Some categories can show a booking button through Google's booking partners, which makes it easier to turn a profile view into a booking.
Asking clients to mention a stylist or a treatment in their review isn't allowed under Google's review policy.
In markets such as the UK, advertising rules on prescription-only treatments apply to an aesthetics clinic's profile as well as its website.
Questions SearchOps answers
Five questions show whether new clients can find you, treatment by treatment. Each one is answered by data SearchOps collects.
01Treatments
Track each treatment as its own keyword, such as 'balayage Chicago', 'skin fade near me', 'hydrafacial Dublin' or 'couples massage Sydney'. Geo-grid scans show where you appear on Google Maps and in the local pack for each one, and whether an AI Overview names you.

02The street
Geo-grid scans show your Google Maps position across your neighbourhood on a tight grid, with the businesses shown ahead of you at every point. Geo-Grid Insights compares you with the leaders on categories, reviews and listing details.

03AI answers
SearchOps asks ChatGPT and Gemini questions like where to get a good curly haircut in Brooklyn or which spa in Melbourne is best for a gift voucher, including for situations such as a bride before her wedding or a first-time client. You see how often you're recommended, who is named instead, and the booking and review sites the answers cite.

04Reviews
Reviews from connected Google profiles arrive in one feed, with sentiment grouped by topic such as staff, value and waiting times. The agent drafts replies in your voice for you to check and send, and on Pro and above you can switch on automatic replies to 4 and 5 star reviews.

Use cases
Illustrative examples from salons, barbers, spas and aesthetics clinics.
Hair salonChicago, Illinois
A scan for 'balayage Chicago' across the neighbourhood shows the salon in the top three within a few blocks and absent beyond, where two colour specialists with far more reviews appear. AI visibility checks show ChatGPT naming the same two. The salon can see exactly which treatment and which streets to work on.
Barbershop, three shopsManchester, UK
Each shop is tracked as its own location. Scans for 'barber near me' show two shops holding their areas and the third losing the top three a street away to a newer barber with a run of recent reviews. Review sentiment shows complaints about waiting times at that shop, so part of the fix is operational.
Day spaMelbourne, Australia
AI visibility checks ask ChatGPT and Gemini where to buy a spa voucher in Melbourne. The spa appears in some answers, a hotel spa appears in most, and the answers cite a gifting guide the spa isn't in. That gives a specific place to earn a mention.
Aesthetics clinicDublin, Ireland
Scans for each treatment show the clinic in the Map Pack for skin treatments and missing for others it offers, with AI Overviews answering above the results for several of them. The clinic can focus on the treatments it most wants to grow rather than a general ranking.
