Credits & billing
How credits and quotas work
The difference between scan credits, rank checks, and other quotas.
On this page
SearchOps uses a few separate allowances rather than one pot. Keeping them separate means heavy scanning never eats into your keyword tracking, and you always know what each part of your plan covers.
The allowances
Scan credits are spent when you run a geo-grid scan, at one credit per grid point, and on nothing else. So a 5x5 scan costs 25 credits, a 7x7 costs 49 and a 21x21 costs 441. See Run your first geo-grid scan.
Rank checks are your Google rank tracking allowance. One check is one keyword looked up, whether you ran it yourself or a schedule did. Tracking keywords is unlimited and does not use the allowance, so how often you check is what uses it. Pro's 1,800 checks track about 415 keywords weekly. See Rank checks explained.
AI visibility checks power AI Engine Visibility. One check is one prompt put to one engine once. You do not have to write the prompts: SearchOps writes them for each keyword you track, from your location and the kind of business you are, and you can edit them or write your own. A new location starts on two prompts per keyword, asked of both ChatGPT and Gemini, so each keyword uses four checks on a run you start yourself. A scheduled run costs the same. Measuring further up the funnel uses three or four prompts per keyword. Checks are a separate monthly balance from scan credits. See Choose the prompts AI Engine Visibility runs.
Connected profiles and locations are capped by your plan. See How many profiles can I connect?.
Other monthly allowances cover the rest of your plan, and each one shows on Usage & Billing:
- Review checks: checks of review sources for locations whose Google profile is not connected, and of Trustpilot and Tripadvisor pages (Starter 150, Pro 400, Agency 1,500).
- Agent questions: questions to the agent in the Assistant. A full review of a location, a 90-day plan or an analysis of a pattern uses three (Starter 75, Pro 200, Agency 500).
- Post drafts: new agent drafts for Google posts. Refining a draft is not counted (Starter 15, Pro 50, Agency 200).
- GBP audits: shared across your locations (Starter 4, Pro 25, Agency 60).
- GSC analysis runs: analysis in GSC and GA4 Insights (Starter 60, Pro 175, Agency 450).
Note: Some things do not use any allowance: replying to reviews, typing in keywords, adding locations, keyword ideas in Keyword Research and search volume on your tracked keywords. Reviews from a connected Google Business Profile sync on their own. Checking reviews for a location you have not connected, whether you run the check or a schedule does, uses your monthly review checks, and having the agent find keywords for you is limited each month.
Resets and rollover
Scan credits and AI visibility checks top up on your billing date and do not roll over: whatever is left resets to your plan's allowance. AI visibility checks you buy as a top-up are kept until you use them. Rank checks, review checks, agent questions, post drafts, GSC analysis runs and GBP audits reset on the 1st of each month. Plan your scanning across the month rather than saving it all for the end.
Tip: If you schedule scans, size the frequency and grid against your monthly credits so a busy week does not drain the pot early. See Schedule recurring scans.
Running low
SearchOps flags you when an allowance is getting close. Your options are to prioritise what matters most this cycle, check less important keywords weekly rather than daily, top up your AI visibility checks if you need more this month, or upgrade for a larger monthly allowance.
A scan that fails refunds its credits automatically, and a scheduled scan that starts when your balance is low runs only the keywords your balance covers and skips the rest.
Where to check your balance
Open Usage & Billing under Account in the sidebar to see every allowance: what is left of your scan credits and AI visibility checks and when they top up, your monthly allowances and when they reset, and how many tracked locations you have left. It also shows your transaction history and lets you buy more AI visibility checks.
