Getting started
Ask the agent and run analyses
Ask questions about SearchOps and your account, run a full review of a location, and act on patterns spotted across your sources.
On this page
Get answers and analysis without leaving the app. The SearchOps agent is built into the Assistant page: ask a question in plain language, or have it read everything SearchOps tracks for a location and tell you what changed, why it probably happened and what to do next.
Where to find it
Choose Assistant in the sidebar, just under Dashboard, or go straight to the Assistant page. Your recent conversations sit on the left so you can pick one up later.
Tip: New to the platform? Start with What is SearchOps? for the big picture, then ask the assistant anything it leaves unanswered.
Choose a location
On a paid plan the page opens on one of your locations. Choose another from the picker at the top of the conversation. Beside it you can see what the agent can read for that location: rank checks, map scans, ChatGPT and Gemini visibility, Search Console, your Business Profile and your reviews. A source that is not set up yet shows as a dashed chip, and choosing it takes you to where you set it up.
The more a location tracks, and the longer it has tracked it, the more the agent has to work with. A location with three months of map scans, rank checks and a connected profile gets a far richer answer than one added yesterday.
Run a full review
Run a review has the agent read every source for the location together and write a short report:
- What the numbers show, each point shown with the numbers behind it, the source they came from and the period they cover
- Likely causes, each marked high, medium or low confidence, so you can tell a firm reading from a plausible one
- What to do, most valuable first, with anything the agent can set up for you (a task, or keywords to track) waiting for you to approve
Every number in a report links to the page it came from. A report never states a number SearchOps has not measured, and it says what it cannot see, for example when Search Console is not connected.
Reports are kept under Past analyses with their date, so you can reopen one without running it again. If the numbers have not changed since a report was written, running it again reopens that report instead of writing a new one.
Build a plan
Build a plan has the agent decide what is worth doing at the location over the next 90 days, and in what order.
Confirm your services first
The first time, the plan card asks you to Confirm your services. SearchOps lists the services it can see on your Business Profile, in your post notes, on your website and in your keywords. Tick the ones you offer, star the ones that matter most, pick the page on your website for each or choose We don't have a page for this yet, and say roughly how many customers you see a week. If SearchOps has not read your website before, it reads it first, which can take up to a minute. Confirming uses no agent questions, and you can change your answers any time with Edit your services.
The plan only recommends work on services you confirmed. It recommends a new page only when you said there is no page, or when it read your website from its sitemap and found none. When it cannot be sure, it asks you instead.
What the plan reads
For each service you confirmed:
- the page for it: its headings, its length and whether your homepage links to it
- your tracked searches about it, where you rank, and which of your pages Google shows
- the businesses holding the Map Pack for it, with their categories, their reviews and how fast they gain reviews. A branch of a larger brand is shown but not compared with you.
- the top Google results for it, and whether they belong to businesses, directories or articles
It also reads the questions Google shows under People also ask for your keywords, the sites AI answers cite when your rivals appear and you do not, and tasks you finished before and whether their numbers moved.
What you get
The plan has where to focus, then steps for this week, this month and later. Each step names the specific thing to change, such as a category, a page or a site, how long it takes and the evidence behind it. Each step also says how sure the plan is: open what we checked to see what the evidence covers and what could not be checked.
Review growth comes as a pace you can keep, such as Get 3 new Google reviews a week, and becomes a repeating task with a check-in each week. See Work your tasks.
Questions for you lists what only you can answer that would change the plan, such as whether you have a page for a service. Answer them, then build the plan again for a sharper one.
Add to tasks puts a step on your Tasks board with the number it should move, and Add all adds every step at once. The plan also lists what is not worth doing yet and why, for example map points that are simply closer to other businesses.
A plan uses three agent questions, the same as a review. From the Tasks page, Plan with the agent opens the Assistant on the location you are looking at. Nothing runs until you choose Build a plan.
Worth a look
Under the review, the page shows up to three patterns SearchOps spotted across your sources. For example, map coverage and calls falling in the same weeks, clicks falling while your positions held, or a rival joining the Map Pack as your coverage slipped. These are found from your tracked data without running the agent.
Choose Analyse on a pattern and the agent explains it, with the likely causes and what to do. A single number moving on its own is not shown here: your Dashboard and Tasks board already carry those.
Ask questions
Ask in your own words, just as you would a colleague. Good things to ask include:
- What changed at my Leeds branch this month?
- Is anything costing me calls or website clicks right now?
- How does my visibility compare between ChatGPT and Gemini?
- How do credits and quotas work?
After a report, ask follow-up questions in the same conversation and the agent answers with that report in mind. It only ever looks at your account, never anyone else's. When it suggests a change, such as adding a task, nothing happens until you approve it.
Your agent allowance
Every plan includes a monthly allowance of agent questions: 75 on Starter, 200 on Pro and 500 on Agency. Your balance shows at the top of the Assistant page and on Usage & Billing. A question in chat uses one. A full review, a plan, or an analysis of a pattern, uses three, and the button says so before you run it. Help Centre questions do not count. If an analysis cannot be written, nothing is taken from your allowance. The allowance resets on the first of each month; see How credits and quotas work for what your plan includes.
When you need a person
Some questions need a human, and the assistant makes that easy. Once a conversation has started, you can choose Talk to a human at the top of it. You can also select Human support at the top of the page to go straight to the Support page. The assistant sends your conversation to our support team, who reply to the email address on your account, usually within one UK working day. You get a short reference (like SO-7Q3K) so you can follow it up, and your open requests are listed under Your recent requests on the Support page, at the bottom of the sidebar. That page also has a contact form and our response times.
Note: There is always a clear path to a person. You are never stuck talking to the assistant alone.
Included on every plan
Every plan includes the full agent: answers about your own account, reviews and analyses of your tracking data, actions it can carry out for you, and hand-off to our team. An account without a plan cannot open the Assistant until it chooses one, but the Help Centre and the contact form on the Support page always reach us.
