Post to your Google Business Profile

Write, schedule and publish updates to your Google Business Profile without leaving SearchOps.

Last reviewed September 20263 min read

Posts let you publish updates straight to your Google Business Profile, from news to a seasonal promotion, without leaving SearchOps, so your listing stays active and fresh for the customers (and the search results) that find you.

Where to find Posts

Open Google Business Manager > Posts in the sidebar, or go to your Posts workspace. You will see a Calendar view (scheduled and published posts laid out on their dates) and a List view with filters for scheduled, published, draft and failed posts. On Pro and above, pick a single profile at the top right and use Plan a content calendar to have the agent map out posts for the next 4, 8 or 12 weeks; each idea appears on the calendar for you to draft.

Connect a profile first

Posts publish to a Google Business Profile you have connected, so you need at least one active profile before you can post. If you have not connected one yet, follow Connect your Google Business Profile. Once a profile is active, the New post button becomes available.

Write and publish a post

Select New post (or pick a future day in the Calendar and select Schedule a post for this day). Post Studio opens, with your writing space on one side and a live preview of how the post will look on Google on the other:

  1. Pick the connected profile you want to post to. Pick more than one to post the same update to several locations, and turn on tailoring if you want each post adjusted to its location.
  2. Write your post body (up to 1,500 characters).
  3. Optionally add an image: upload one from your computer (JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 8 MB) or paste a link to a public image.
  4. Optionally turn on a call-to-action button, such as Book, Order or Call, and add its destination link.
  5. Select Post now to publish straight away.

Posts are included in your plan.

Let the agent draft it for you

If you would rather not start from a blank page, choose Draft with the agent in Post Studio. Pick a goal and a tone, describe what the post is about, add any key details and change the language if you need to, then select Generate draft. The agent writes a first version into the post body using what your business is found for and your recent posts as context. You can edit it freely, tap a quick change such as Shorten or Warmer, or type your own instruction and select Refine, such as "add the dates". Your plan includes a monthly number of new agent drafts (15 on Starter, 50 on Pro, 200 on Agency); refining a draft doesn't count. See what's left on Usage & Billing.

Schedule for later

To publish at a future time rather than now, turn on Schedule for later and pick a date and time. The button changes to Schedule post, and the post appears on your Calendar as scheduled until it goes live automatically. Scheduled and published posts both show in the List view, where you can filter by status or remove a post.

Tip: A steady drip of posts keeps your profile looking active. Pair this with Read your Google Business Profile performance to see how your updates land with customers over time.

If a post is rejected, it shows as failed with the reason from Google, so you can adjust the wording or image and try again. Google rejects every post to a listing that hasn't finished verification, so profiles marked Unverified need verifying in Google Business Profile first.
