A Semrush Local alternative priced by plan, not by location

Semrush Local charges for each location: $30 a month on Base and $60 on Pro, each with its own allowance of Map Rank Tracker credits, and it sells AI visibility as a separate plan. SearchOps charges for the plan instead: Pro is $99 a month for up to 50 locations, with ChatGPT and Gemini checks included. Here is how the two add up from one location to 200.

The short answer

SearchOps or Semrush Local?

SearchOps fits if

  • You run 3 or more locations and want one price for the plan. Pro covers up to 50 locations for $99 a month (25 of them connected for posts and replies), and Agency up to 200 for $249.
  • You want ChatGPT and Gemini checks in the same plan as your map grids, plus AI Overviews and AI Mode at each grid point, rather than a second plan for AI answers.
  • You want every Business Profile change approved before it reaches Google, with an undo, and a drafted reply waiting for each new review.

Semrush Local fits if

  • You want your business details sent to directories: Local Pro distributes them to 70+ US and 40+ international directories and suppresses duplicate listings.
  • You ask customers for reviews by SMS or email, or want posts and review replies to run automatically from a few settings.
  • You already use Semrush for keyword research, site audits or website rank tracking, and want the local tools in the same account.
  • You manage one or two locations, where $30 a location on Local Base costs less than a SearchOps plan.

Using both

Some teams keep Semrush Local Pro for listing distribution and review requests, and run grids, AI answer checks and client reports in SearchOps.

Price the job

Twenty locations, priced per location and per plan

An agency manages 20 client locations. Each one tracks five keywords on a 7×7 Google Maps grid every week, and the agency posts to the profiles and replies to reviews. Change the numbers to price your own estate.

Your job

The job also needs
The sum: 20 locations × 5 keywords × 49 points × 4.33 runs a month (52 weeks ÷ 12) = 21,234 Google Maps points a month, rounded up.

SearchOps

$189a month

Pro ($99) plus 2 × 5,000-credit top-ups ($90) bought each month.

12,000 scan credits a month cover 21,234 points with the top-ups, leaving 766 for Google Search or AI Mode grids. Up to 50 locations.

Semrush Local

$670a month

Local Base, 20 × $30 a location, 7,500 points included, plus 14,000 more at $5 per 1,000 a month, billed monthly; Semrush shows the same Local rate for annual billing.

Local Base and Pro charge for each location and include Map Rank Tracker credits for each, with 1,000 more for $5 a month. Map Rank Tracker on its own is $30 a month for one campaign and 4,000 credits, plus $10 a month for each further campaign. Semrush also lists extra campaigns on Local at $10 a month; none are added here.

  • On Local Base, Semrush's agent writes and publishes the posts and replies to reviews on its own. Writing your own replies and scheduling your own posts are on Local Pro, $1,200 a month for 20 locations, whose 1,225 credits a location cover this job.
  • AI visibility is a separate Semrush plan, $99 a month per domain, and isn't in the Semrush price. The SearchOps price includes 3,000 ChatGPT and Gemini checks a month.
  • Both are list prices as each company publishes them, billed monthly. Semrush shows the same Local rate for annual billing, paid upfront; SearchOps' annual billing charges 10 months for 12. Semrush also offers Local Business, priced by its sales team, for 20+ locations.
  • SearchOps' prices here are the US dollar prices on its pricing page (£29, £79 and £199 a month in pounds). Checkout shows the exact amount in your currency.

What's different

What SearchOps does differently

Priced by plan

Add a location without adding a fee

SearchOps charges for the plan, not for each location. Starter tracks up to 10 locations, Pro up to 50 and Agency up to 200, and every grid draws on one monthly pool of scan credits. Spend them where they matter: a wide grid for a busy branch, a small one for a quiet one, and Google Search or AI Mode grids at the same points as Google Maps. The profiles you post to and reply on are connected to the plan: 1 on Starter, 25 on Pro and 100 on Agency.

  • Scan credits for the whole plan: 4,500, 12,000 or 35,000 a month
  • Google Maps: one credit a point, your position in the top 20
  • Google Search and AI Mode: two credits a point, AI Mode up to 9×9 in the US, UK and India

AI answers in the same plan

ChatGPT and Gemini checks come with the grids, not as a second plan

Every SearchOps plan includes a monthly pool of AI checks: 600 on Starter, 3,000 on Pro and 6,000 on Agency. Prompts sit under the services each location sells, and each one goes to both ChatGPT and Gemini. For every answer you see whether the business is named, who is named instead, and which sites the answer cites.

  • One check is one prompt on one engine
  • Share of voice against the businesses named alongside you
  • Weekly, every two weeks or monthly

  • GeminiNot namednames 3 others instead

Sites cited across both answers: the clinic's own site, a review site and a local directory.

Business Profile changes

Approve every change before it reaches Google

Every edit made in SearchOps, from Saturday hours to a new category, waits for approval before it goes to Google. Once it is live you can undo it, and if the same field changed on Google in the meantime, SearchOps holds your edit back instead of overwriting it. Posts go out when you choose: straight away or on a schedule, to one profile or several.

  • An approval step on every edit
  • An undo on every published change

Review replies

A drafted reply for every new review, sent when you say so

New Google reviews land in one inbox with a reply already drafted by the agent. Edit it, post it, or leave it for later. On Pro and Agency you can let replies to 4-star and 5-star reviews go out on their own and keep the rest for a person to check, and Trustpilot and Tripadvisor reviews sit beside Google's.

When Semrush Local fits better

Where Semrush Local is the better choice

Some of Semrush Local's tools have no counterpart in SearchOps. If your work depends on them, Semrush is the better fit.

Listing distribution

Local Pro sends your business details to 70+ US and 40+ international directories, the UK among the countries it serves, and tracks and suppresses duplicate listings. SearchOps checks each branch's listings but doesn't submit or sync them.

Review requests

Local Pro runs automated SMS and email campaigns asking customers for reviews, and monitors reviews on other directories as well as Google. SearchOps monitors reviews and drafts replies, but doesn't send requests.

The rest of the Semrush suite

Semrush Local can be added to an existing Semrush subscription, beside keyword research, site audits and position tracking for your website. SearchOps doesn't audit websites or track organic rankings; for your own site it reads Search Console.

Enterprise controls at scale

For 20+ locations, Local Business has custom limits, pricing and billing, and priority support. Semrush's enterprise offer lists SSO, audit logs, a dedicated account manager and 24/7 support. SearchOps has no SSO and supports customers by email.

Switching

Moving from Semrush Local

Moving across is mostly setup: bringing locations and keywords over, connecting the profiles you manage and making sure only one tool posts to each profile.

  1. 01

    Export what you track

Semrush's help article says Map Rank Tracker exports reports as PDF and CSV. Export each campaign's report as CSV, and list each location's business details and keywords in a spreadsheet.

  2. 02

    Add locations in bulk

Upload your locations to SearchOps as a CSV file. Each one is matched to its Google listing.

  3. 03

    Bring your keywords across

Paste keywords or import them from Excel or CSV, grouped under the services each location sells.

  4. 04

Switch off automatic posting before you connect

If Semrush's agent posts or replies on a profile, turn those automations off in its settings, which Semrush lets you do one by one. Then sign in with Google to connect the profiles you manage, so each profile gets one set of posts and replies.

  5. 05

Run both for one reporting cycle

Set your schedules and compare the trend, not single points. Each tool places its pins, runs at its own time and reads results its own way, so individual points won't match.

  6. 06

    Cancel when you're ready

Semrush's pricing page says you can cancel at any time unless you have signed custom terms. Annual plans are paid upfront, and Semrush says its agent stops posting, uploading photos and replying once you cancel.

FAQ

SearchOps and Semrush Local. Questions we get

It depends on how many locations you run. For the job above (five keywords on a 7×7 grid every week, with posts and review replies), one location costs $35 a month on Semrush Local Base and $39 on SearchOps Starter. Semrush costs less for one or two locations. From 3 locations SearchOps costs less, because its price is for the plan. For 20 locations the job comes to $189 a month on SearchOps Pro with top-up credits, against $670 on Semrush Local Base with extra credits, or $1,200 on Local Pro. Prices were checked on 25 October 2026.

Not in the Local plans. Semrush sells AI visibility as a separate plan, $99 a month per domain, tracking 25 prompts across ChatGPT, Google AI, Gemini and Perplexity. Every SearchOps plan includes ChatGPT and Gemini checks (600, 3,000 or 6,000 a month), and its Google Search and AI Mode grids show AI Overviews and whether AI Mode names the business at each point. SearchOps doesn't check Perplexity.

Yes. It is $30 a month for one campaign and 4,000 credits, plus $10 a month for each further campaign and $5 for each extra 1,000 credits. Semrush's help article says 10 locations need the plan plus nine extra campaigns. For 20 locations on the weekly job above, that is $310 a month for Google Maps grids. SearchOps Pro runs the same grids for $189 a month with top-up credits, and includes AI answer checks and the Business Profile tools.

No. SearchOps checks each branch's listings field by field and shows what is missing or wrong, and you fix them yourself or with a listings service. Semrush Local Pro distributes business details to 70+ US and 40+ international directories and suppresses duplicates.

On Semrush both are add-ons: the Pro Report, which adds branding and white-labelling, is $20 a month, and each extra user is $20 a month. On SearchOps both come with Agency at $249 a month: your logo, colours and report sub-domain, and unlimited team members. Starter and Pro are for one user.

Yes. Export your Map Rank Tracker reports as CSV, upload your locations to SearchOps as a CSV file, and import keywords from Excel, CSV or a paste, grouped by service. Then connect the Business Profiles you manage with a Google sign-in and set your schedules. Keep your last Semrush exports to compare trends against.

There's no open trial of SearchOps. The live demo runs the real product on a sample business, and we set up trials for agencies on request: email info@searchops.co. Semrush offers a seven-day trial on monthly Local plans and checks your card when you start it. SearchOps' monthly plans can be cancelled at any time.

Semrush says Map Rank Tracker works in any country where a business is on Google Maps, and lists the countries Listing Management serves, the UK among them. SearchOps' Google Maps and Google Search grids work wherever Google Maps does, and AI Mode grids run in the US, UK and India. SearchOps prices are shown in 7 currencies, and checkout shows the exact amount in yours.
