Use Business facts

What SearchOps keeps about each business, where it comes from, what you confirm, and how to ask a client to fill in the gaps.

Business facts is where SearchOps keeps what it knows about each business: how it looks, how it sounds, what it sells, its team and its offers. Content written for the business is built on these facts, so it sounds like the business and states only what's true.

Open Content in the sidebar, then Business facts, and pick a location.

Whose business is it?

Business facts are only kept for businesses you run or manage, your own or a client's. If a Google Business Profile or a Search Console site is connected to the location, SearchOps already knows. If not, it asks once: Yes, we run or manage it or No, we're watching it. A business you're watching, such as a competitor you added to track, gets no facts and no content. It still shows everywhere else you track it.

Where the facts come from

The first time you open a business, SearchOps reads what it can find, and does so again every 30 days:

  • What SearchOps already holds: your post guidelines, your team list, the services you set up, your customer types and the areas you serve.
  • Your Google profile: the description, the services listed on it and the logo.
  • Your website's own code: your logo, colours and fonts.
  • What you've written: your website and your own replies to reviews, read for how you write, what makes you different, guarantees, licences and local places you mention.
  • Your reviews: what customers say.

What we find arrives as a suggestion, marked Suggested, with where it came from. Select Check them to go through them in one list, then confirm what's right and remove what isn't. A suggestion you remove stays removed, and the next read won't suggest it again. Select Read again to read the business now, at most once a day.

Anything you type or change yourself is confirmed straight away.

What gets used, and when

  • Prices, offers, claims and people (guarantees, licences, awards, insurance, team members) are only used once they're confirmed.
  • Offers need an end date and are never used after it. An offer with no end date is marked so you can add one.
  • People are only named when you turn on OK to name for them. Someone named on your website is not automatically OK to name in a post.
  • A suggestion that isn't a claim, such as how formal you are, can guide the tone of what's written but is never stated as fact.
  • Not everything goes in every post. How you sound and your rules shape everything written. Services, prices, claims, team, offers and local knowledge are chosen one to three at a time for each piece, so a post isn't crammed with every fact at once. See Plan and write content.

How you look and how you sound

How you look holds your logo, colours, fonts, style and photos that look like you. Graphics use them; without them they use neutral templates. Upload your logo and a few of your own photos (PNG, JPG or WebP, up to 8 MB each): AI images use the photos as a reference, so they look like your business rather than a stock photo.

How you sound holds your voice. Instead of describing it, pick between sample lines: which sounds more like you, the casual one or the professional one? Add lines you've actually written, and words you always or never use.

A brand-new business has less for us to read. Picking your style and voice and adding your services takes a few minutes and makes the biggest difference.

Businesses with several locations

Locations on the same website are one business. They share its voice, logo and services, and each keeps its own team, offers and areas. You can set a shared fact for one location only, for example a different price at one branch. Select The business to rename it, or move a location to another business or to a business of its own.

Ask your client

If you manage a business for a client, select Ask your client to make a link to a short form. Your client can add offers and when they end, the team, prices, guarantees and licences without logging in, and their answers arrive here confirmed. A link lasts 30 days, and making a new one ends the old one.
