Google Search Visibility

Your visibility on Google isn't one number any more. Web results, the Map Pack, AI Overviews and AI Mode each surface a different set of businesses for the same keyword. Track your position where Google ranks you, and your appearance where it doesn't, across every Google surface in one tracker.

Why it's different

Built for the way local SEO actually works

Classic SERP positions

Traditional organic rank positions and local pack appearances on desktop and mobile, plus which results-page features, such as featured snippets, show for each keyword.

AI Overview appearance

Google's AI-generated answers now sit above organic results. We track whether you're cited and which sources Google pulled in.

AI Mode appearance

Google's conversational tab returns its own answer for your keyword. For locations in the US, UK and India, we track whether your business shows up in it.

One view of every Google surface

Position, appearance, and the competitors around you, side by side for every tracked keyword.

Why this matters

Four Google surfaces for one keyword

Classic blue-link rankings still drive traffic, but AI Overviews push organic results further down the page, and AI Mode is Google's conversational tab where users read one synthesised answer instead of flicking between links. For a single keyword, Google can surface four different sets of businesses across these surfaces. Track only the classic SERP and you miss what a growing share of searchers actually see first.

  • Classic Google SERPs. Rank position, local pack, and the results-page features that show
  • AI Overviews. The AI answer above organic results, and the sources it cites
  • AI Mode. Google's conversational tab, and whether your business appears in its answer (US, UK and India locations)
  • Desktop and mobile, because the surfaces differ between them

The right metric per surface

Position where Google ranks you, appearance where it doesn't

Classic organic results and the local pack are ordered lists, so we report your exact position. AI Overviews and AI Mode are synthesised answers with no position one to win: you're either named and cited or you're not. So for those surfaces we track appearance and which competitors and sources show up alongside you, not a made-up rank. No invented numbers, just what Google actually returned.

  • Exact position for classic organic and local pack results
  • Appearance and cited-source tracking for AI Overviews and AI Mode
  • The competitors returned beside you on each surface, so you see who you're up against
  • Change-over-time charts so a position drop or a lost AI appearance stands out immediately

How it works

Three steps from signup to insight

1

Add keywords and competitors

Seed the tracker with the queries your customers actually use, then pin up to 10 competitors from the businesses Google shows beside you.

2

We query every Google surface

On your schedule: daily, weekly, every two weeks or monthly. We query classic results, the local pack and AI Overviews in one pass, plus AI Mode for locations in the US, UK and India.

3

See positions, appearances, trends

One dashboard covering every Google surface for each keyword. Export or share a client-facing report in one click.

What it uses

What tracking costs

Rank tracking doesn't use scan credits. Your plan includes a monthly allowance of rank checks, and one check is one keyword looked up across classic results, the local pack and the AI Overview, plus AI Mode for locations in the US, UK and India, in a single pass. Track as many keywords as you like across the locations your plan includes: how often you check them is what uses the allowance, and a check you run yourself counts the same as a scheduled one.

  • Starter: 650 keyword rank checks a month · Pro: 1,800 · Agency: 4,500
  • 1,800 checks is about 60 keywords checked daily, or 415 checked weekly, or any mix
  • Adding and tracking keywords is free and unlimited; only checking uses your allowance

FAQ

Google Search Visibility. Questions we get

Classic organic results, the local pack and AI Overviews on both desktop and mobile, plus Google AI Mode for locations in the US, UK and India. They are all queried for each keyword in a single pass, so you see them side by side rather than across separate tools.

No, and on purpose. An AI answer is synthesised text, not an ordered list, so there's no genuine 'position 3' to report. For those surfaces we track appearance: whether your business is named, which sources Google cited, and which competitors show up alongside you. Classic organic and local pack results are ordered lists, so for those we do report exact position.

Daily, weekly, every two weeks or monthly, on every paid plan, and there's no cap on how many keywords you track: your plan includes a monthly allowance of rank checks, and one check is one keyword looked up. Checking daily uses about seven times the allowance of checking weekly, so most teams put their money keywords on daily and leave more stable ones on weekly. A keyword checked in the last 24 hours is skipped rather than re-run unless you choose to force it, so nothing is wasted, and no keyword runs more than three times a day.

ChatGPT is an AI assistant rather than a Google search surface, so it lives in our dedicated ChatGPT Visibility product, which checks it for the queries your customers use and reports your share of voice. This tracker stays focused on Google's own surfaces. Gemini sits on both sides, and the difference matters: AI Overviews and AI Mode are Gemini-powered answers that appear on the Google results page you already rank for, so they are tracked here. Someone opening the Gemini assistant itself is a separate destination, and that is tracked in Gemini Visibility, alongside ChatGPT Visibility.

Track the AI assistants too

Google is one place customers now ask. ChatGPT Visibility and Gemini Visibility check each assistant for the queries your customers use and show how often it recommends you, in what words, and against which competitors.
